Drama in Action is an Educational Drama Programme for Primary Schools.
The programme is a great way of experiencing how drama can be used to create an engaging and stimulating learning experience for children in the classroom.
Drama schemes are designed to meet the Primary School Drama Curriculum and include cross-curricular learning themes in for example: Social, Personal & Health Education, History and English.

Educational Drama Worker, Kate Brown works with children and teachers in their classrooms on a weekly basis. This is a partnership project between the Balor Developmental Community Arts Group and the participating school. As a professional collaboration, each participant – child, teacher and Educational Drama Worker has an important role to play in ensuring the projects success.

Equipping the classroom teacher with the skills and confidence needed to deliver successful drama lessons is one of the main objectives of the project. In order to achieve this, the programme also offers in-service teacher training courses accredited by the Department of Education and after school workshops. Teachers not only gain practical drama subject support during these training sessions but also access to a creative forum where ideas and learning can be shared amongst peers.

The Drama in Action project would not exist without financial support from the Arts Council and participating schools. If you are interested in availing of or learning more about the services offered by the Balor’s Drama in Action Programme,
